aguirre, the wrath of god

Aguirre, the Wrath of God (1972) -- beautiful opening sequence.

apt, given the gorgeous surrounding nature, that humans "ruin" the serenity/atmosphere. even the horse wants out!

soundtrack’s swell. perhaps too non-committal (as a standalone album -- i didn't notice any incongruity during the film),

but enjoyable still. starts awesome, meanders.

has the memorable flute/organ ditty, then somehow turns into a space sci-fi haunted house. then has a proper ending -- a proper "burial." fitting the album gets a burial but many of the film's inhabitants don't.

might revisit this music (and will surely be exploring more of Popol Vuh's work).

won’t revisit the film, but that’s not to say i got nothing from it.

a visual poem that makes a striking entrance.

at some point, concludes, at the right time.
